The club captain has been ruled out for 8-to-12 weeks after breaking his thumb in a Copa del Rey draw last week, and his Blancos teammates showed their support on Sunday.

Real Madrid players showed their support for injured skipper Iker Casillas ahead of their game against Getafe Sunday.

The club captain has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks after undergoing surgery on his broken thumb, an injury he suffered in the Blancos' most recent clash with Valencia on Wednesday night. Madrid's official Twitter handle revealed ahead of Sunday morning's Liga match that the players would be wearing shirts to support the Spain international goalkeeper, who has been at the center of a pair of controversies after being benched by manager Jose Mourinho.

The shirts worn by Casillas' teammates had the words 'Animo Iker' printed on, which translates as 'Get well soon Iker.'

Shotstopper Diego Lopez was signed from Sevilla by Mourinho following the injury to his skipper, and he was named on the bench for their Getafe clash, with Antonio Adan favored to start. Casillas' absence means Madrid will need to rely on Adan or Lopez in its two-legged Copa del Rey semifinal clash with Barcelona and the two UEFA Champions League last 16 legs against Manchester United
