Castilla played a friendly against Spain U-20s, who have been training for the past few days at Las Rozas Football City in preparation for their participation in next summer's World Cup in Turkey. Whites’ players Jese, Raul de Tomas, Omar and Derik were part of the national team. In a match that allowed Alberto Toril to give some pitch time to lesser used players, the Whites were much superior and won 0-5. Cheryshev, Lucas, Oscar Plano each scored and Jota got two.
The main change in Toril’s starting eleven was the inclusion of Real Madrid C player Ramirez, following recent good performances. For the national team, Jese, Omar and Derik were starters. The first half was clearly dominated by Castilla. The first goal came in the 15th minute. It came from a great left-footed Cheryshev shot from distance that found Kepa’s top corner. Lucas, one of the most involved players in attack, had clear opportunities. In the 32nd he hit the post after a great individual move and two minutes later his shot was touched wide for a corner. It was not until the 42nd that Castilla’s second came. Oscar Plano cut inside on his left and played in Lucas, who put the ball into an empty net.
After the break, Toril and Lopetegui used their benches. For Castilla, Casemiro got some pitch time and is continuing to adapt and Real Madrid C player Molero also came on. Raul Thomas also enjoyed an opportunity with the U-20s. Just four minutes had elapsed in the second half when Jota got in behind the defence for the third. The fourth came in the 58th minute. Oscar Plano headed home from a measured cross from the left. Before the final goal there was a scuffle between Nono and Borja which ended in both players being sent off. With the end of the 90 in sight, Jota got his second with a chip that was out of Sotres’ reach.
